Miami Matters is a dynamic, interactive web‐based intelligence and information platform that provides easy to understand health and quality of life indicators for our South Florida community.
Miami Matters launched in 2010 as an initiative of the Health Council of South Florida to provide open data, program management, and community resources to the Miami-Dade County.
The Health Council of South Florida (HCSF) is part of a statewide network of 11 non-profit agencies established by Section 408.033 Florida Statutes (F.S.) to conduct regional health planning and implementation activities. The HCSF serves Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties to develop district health plans through data analysis and strategic recommendations related to health care status and community needs in order to improve access to health care, reduce disparities, and assist state local governments in the development of health care policies while advocating on behalf of the under-served.
What We Do
The Health Council of South Florida is charged with doing the following to fulfill our vision of a healthy Miami-Dade County and an optimal public health system:
1) Community Health Needs Assessments: We support and steer the process for conducting comprehensive community health needs assessments for local non-profit hospitals and organizations.
2) Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Clinical Quality Management: We evaluate and manage the Clinical Quality Management program for the RWHAP in Monroe County, FL
3) Coordination and Collaboration: We help to coordinate and collaborate with community partners on community health planning and improvement activities in Miami-Dade County.
4) Capacity Building: We act as a resource for using data and best practices in community health planning and improvement activities.
5) Community Health Worker (CHW) Training: We provide training to CHWs related to Emergency and Natural Disaster Preparedness.
