HIV Wisdom for Older Women is an organization dedicated to raising awareness of HIV among older women and supporting older women affected by HIV. Because this population is under-recognized for their HIV risk, HIV Wisdom for Older Women raises public awareness by delivering prevention and outreach programs nationwide.
Goal / Mission
HIV Wisdom for Older Women is dedicated to the prevention of HIV in older women and to life enrichment for those who are infected.
Results / Accomplishments
A typical prevention program consists of a spoken presentation by an older infected woman, who tells her personal story of living and aging with HIV. The educational message is that the spread of the virus can and must be stopped, in older adults as well as the population at large. The organization also facilitates educational and networking workshops for women living with HIV.
